Infected by the MKAL-virus I’ve finished my second mystery knitalong. It’s a crescent-shaped shawl. I’ve bought the according kit with a gradient yarn and the matching beads at Earthfaire.
There were three clues which are clearly visible in the shawl: first the wallpaper lace, followed by the diamond pattern with the beads and then the lace border. The lace border can be worked as many times you like. As I’ve started with the darker colour I’ve wanted to show the light colour at the border, but with only one repeat it was too weak. There wouldn’t be any color balance from dark to light. So I repeated the lace border four times until I was satisfied with the balance. I haven’t used all the skein – 10g left. And I still have the extra skein of the lighter colour which I ordered with the kit (if I want to have a bigger shawl).
Pattern: Sweetness and Light Shawl by Liz Capik (my Ravelry page)
Yarn: Apple Tree Knits Plush Fingering Gradient, Honeydew
Beads: seed beads size 0/6, Silverlined Chartreuse AB
Finished Measurements: depth 50cm, wingspan 130cm
It’s my first time knitting with this yarn. It feels very soft, has a nice stitch definition and a nice drape. And of course I really like the gradient. I’m in love with my newest shawl as it is a touch of colour in this grey season.
What’s your favorite accessory in this season? Is it colorful? What do you prefer, more wintry or a bright color?
