lekker kos en party – my third week in Cape Town

Last Sunday I was with my friend Vera at the Hout Bay market. This market is somehow very similar to the Old Biscuit Mill market but less touristic as it exists only since one year. It’s around one hour drive from the place I stay but worth it. On the way to the market we stopped at the craft market where you can buy all handmade stuff. The Bay Harbour market in Hout Bay is open from friday noon until sunday noon. It was not so crowded as I’ve expected to be. There was even space to sit down to eat. Of course you should go there hungry to try all those delicious food. Next to the food there are several booths which sell clothes, accessory and other stuff. It was very relaxed atmosphere.

Monday and tuesday were good for kitesurfing. My session on Tuesday was perfect. I did – though short, but still – my first downwinder from Dolphin Beach to Kitebeach this season. Fully on power I’ve started at Dolphin and kitesurfed all the way down to the Endless Summer Beachhouse which was around 2km. In front of the ESB-house there was less wind and so I’ve tried new jumps and had some good fun. The guys went later on the water I’ve organised everything for the New Year’s Eve Braai (which is the South African BBQ). My friend and I made salad and dessert, bought beer and meat for around 14 people. After all was organised I was more than well done. It was an exhausting day and I couldn’t wait until it was midnight to clink glasses and then fell in bed around one o’clock.

The next day we’ve been to a Trance Party called Rezonance. In fact we’ve wanted to go there for NYE but we were too tired. The party last for three days so there was enough time to join. We’ve joined the party folk in the afternoon and were surprised by live bands like Goldfish or Goodluck. There were three stages with different styles of music, lekker food and good vibes. After more than 12 hours at the party I wasn’t able to walk anymore because of the pains in my knee. So we went back by sunrise to have a sleep in a non-dusty and quiet place :-) check our car when we came back from the party…

The other day there was wind in the evening. Just enough for a kitesurf session but not enough to play around. It was more a work out but – to be honest – just perfect to get rid of the hangover. Some crashes did their job to wake me up and stayed focused.

After such a week a relaxing day was more than welcome. I’ve knitted the second clue for the Tenta cowl MKAL by Lily Go and worked on my Collister shawl. Later the day I practised some yoga excercise to stretch my body.

Another week with lekker food and nice parties. How have you spent the last couple of days? How have you celebrate NYE?
