FO – Shawl with crochet border

It’s time to show you finally another finished object. The showed object is a bit different of other works I usually do. But hey, I’m open to new things, right?

supercraft spring kit 2014

In the supercraft spring kit 2014 I already made a cowl. Next to the yarn, there was also a square fabric in grey. Though I love grey, I also love colours. Then I thought, I can add some colour to the piece.

With the grey thread and a sewing needle, I did a blanket stitch around the square. Then I did four single crochet in each blanket stitch. After that, I switched to the blue thread (Anchor by Coats) and did a block edging (seen on Craftsy).

I think, you can funk up old or plain stuff by adding a crochet border. You can add a crochet border to an old shirt, skirt or jeans-shorts, for example.

I really like the result. This project was perfect for hot, summer days. I don’t like to work with wool in summer. I prefer to work with cotton or silk. A light weight object.

Do you change your projects in summertime? Or could you work in summer on an aran sweater?

Thank you. I like the result too. It gives a twist to a boring grey piece of fabric.

This is great! I used to knit and crochet when I was younger (I was really into it), and reading this post makes me want to get back to it. My 5-year-old son recently started sewing with a needle, and I wonder he might enjoy crocheting wit me? I love the gray + blue color combo.

Adding a crochet border to a piece of fabric combines sewing and crochet. So both could do something :-)
