How to knit gathered stitches

Influenced by the Haapsalu Shawl book (Estonian lace) the gathered stitches caught my eyes. In my first shawl design I use the gathered stitches. There are many options for gathered stitches: “2 into 2”, “3 into 3”, “5 into 5”, “7 into 7” etc. I’ve searched the internet up and down for any helpful tutorials, but wasn’t successful. Therefore I want to show you more about it.
