VKL Chicago 2012

As I’ve needed a little rest of everything, I went for one week to Chicago and attended to the Vogue Knitting Live Event in Chicago.

It was my first visit to Chicago. After a long and bumpy flight I was happy to touch the ground :-)

Chicago is a very nice and interesting city, especially for its architecture. So I did some guided tours hosted by the chicago architecture foundation. I did the highlights by bus and the boat tour and I recommend them. The architecture of Chicago is affected particular by the architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe. And in 1885(!) it was built the first skyscraper with 10 floors and 42meters high. The mixture of older and modern buildings makes this city so fascinating.

The VKL event was from friday to sunday. I attended three classes: two socks in one with Kate Atherley, lace around the world with Brooke Nico and custom knitting with Josh Benett. There were also a lot of fashion shows and free lectures. So these days were fully packed with things to do and I learned a lot of things. I bought some really necessary yarn, as my boxes at home wouldn’t be full of stashed yarn. It’s not that bad, right?

In the evenings there was plenty of time to sip some cocktails, having delicious meals and nice views…
