From stones to pebbles to sand – the beach at the Rohrspitz offers something for everyone. The Austrian nature reserve is located on Lake Constance, right next to the Swiss border. I have already spent many hours at the Rohrspitz: waiting for the wind, kiting or simply enjoying the sunsets.

The flat sloping beach formed the shawl into a flat triangle. The stones, pebbles and sand were the inspiration for the texture.

The shawl is knitted sideways. Starting with a few stitches, increases and decreases are worked on the edges. At the beginning, two-coloured garter stitch is worked, which later changes into a more rugged texture with tuck stitches.

To get the most out of the different textures, I recommend using solid or semi-solid yarns.

The knitting pattern comes with three different bind-off options.

How to work k1(2)b & k1(4)b
Drop the first stitch off the left-hand needle and use the tip of the right-hand needle to unravel the specified number of rows. Then insert the left-hand needle into the live stitch, catching the horizontal strands on top of the needle, knit into the live stitch, working all those strands into the new stitch.
