Inspired by the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, this knitting pattern offers the opportunity to play with knitting directions, patterns and colours.
Frida is another direction to knit a shawl, but in the end, you will have a unique and beautiful shawl!
The construction of Frida is perfect for people who don’t like to cast on a lot of stitches.
I use three colours in a fingering weight yarn combined with a Kidsilk lace weight.

HELPFUL NOTES
Yarn choice
If you substitute yarns A-C, make sure, you use springy yarn. I don’t recommend pure or blends with silk or cotton.
If you don’t like to work with Kidsilk, you can also substitute it with a fingering weight yarn. Be aware that you need more yarn if you substitute YD with a fingering weight (around 60 g / 180 m / 197 yards).
Yarn colours
I used solid colours. I would not recommend using variegated or speckled yarns. Only YC might work with speckles.
The higher the contrast (light - dark) between the colours the better. And remember, go bold!
As for YB, I chose the darkest colour or a colour of pop.
YD should be either the same colour as YA (for a calmer look) or as YC (for a stripier look).
Needles
It’s very helpful to use pointy needles for this technique and you should be familiar with the magic loop technique.
