Color Craving MKAL – clue 4

color craving - clue 4 totalThe last clue is released a week ago. Stephen wants another triangle in color A and you start the border with color C. There are three options for the border: picot-edging, i-cord or k2tog through back loop. The estimated yardage was given for the picot bind off but I don’t like it at all. It’s a very geometric design of the shawl. I don’t think it suits to the style of the shawl. The i-cord bind off takes more yardage than the others and it gives a very nice edging. The k2togtbl bind off is a simple and stretchy bind off.

color craving - clue 4 detail i-cordIn the beginning of the bind off I was not 100% sure if should do it really with color C (pink). To do it with color A (blue) or color B (orange) it would elongate a triangle of one of this color as they were used as the last colors before you start to knit the border. So it has to be another color: pink or a new color. But I encouraged myself to do it with pink and I’ve chosen the i-cord bind off as it isn’t so elastic and hold all the garter stitches in shape. And now I’m really satisfied with it.

Only the bind off took me around 4 hours! By the time it was like yoga: knit two, knit 2 together through back loop, slip the three stitches on the left needle, knit 2, knit 2 tbl, …. OHM!

So far, I really like this shawl. It’s totally different from any shawl I have. In the beginning I didn’t like it at all. But now… I’ve started to like it. What about you?

How to wear this shawl

In the forum there were many questions about how to wear this thing. Well, just be imaginative and try something new!

I’ve come up with three options:

  1. wrap it around your neck as many times you can
  2. slip the narrow angle through one of those ladders/ big holes
  3. wear it as a burka ;-)

I think it looks really good actually! It was so hard to visualize as you were making it, but it’s very nice.

So true! In the beginning I didn’t like it at all. But now I’m so proud of it. Fortunately those ladders aren’t visible when wearing it. And also, I can bear the pink :-)
